Carlo Orrico, proprietor and chef of Al dente Ristorante, comes from a large Italian family where every meal is a celebration. While the entire family is involved in the industry in one form or another, Carlo has taken the art of cooking to a whole new level.
Since the 80s, Carlo has built several award winning restaurants in the northern New Jersey area — Sorrento's in East Rutherford and Toscana in Bloomfield to name a few. Now he brings his award winning cuisine to central New Jersey.
Since its inception of more than 20 years ago, Al dente has undergone a number of positive changes: The menu has grown to include a larger variety of traditional Italian dishes, each with a unique touch. The facility has expanded to include a bar and lounge area in addition to a private dining room for parties and business meetings. The private dining room has been designed to be reminiscent of an Italian villa with hand-painted murals. And an outdoor seating area was recently added for those who enjoy alfresco dining.
While the restaurant itself has evolved over the years, a number of things remain consistent. Service is second to none, and all dishes are of the highest quality. Our staff is very much like a family, working together to provide customers with a first–rate dining experience. In addition, most of the staff has remained intact for the 20 years that Al dente has been open. Not many restaurants can boast about that.
